President's Bulletin – March 3rd, 2023

Men’s Comp.

Last Saturday another good field of 22 players played a Stableford event. There were also many green fee players.

Winner of A grade was Craig Piazza with 39 points, a terrific score, runner up David Rowe with 37 points. Stooge also collected three nearest the pins.

Winner of B grade was Peter Stewart with 37 points on a countback from Evan Jones.

13 players played in the Wednesday comp and Spider Hancock was up nice and early to win the event with a brilliant 39 points, on a countback from Karl O’Shaughnessy.

Chris Rigoni Shield

The second semi final was played last Saturday and Karl O’Shaughnessy and Geoff Veldman were too good for Tony Chapman and Fox O’Donohue. They won 5/4.

They play Paul Cowman and Jade Galvan tomorrow in the final, best of luck to you all.

Ovens and Murray Past Players

Always a great social day in our calendar, this year’s event is next Wednesday 8th March, 9.00-10.00am shotgun start. Lunch provided.

It is good that we have the opportunity to play with past Ovens and Murray footballers from throughout the North East, some even ex. VFL players. All members welcome to play, contact John Welch if interested.

Alpine Classic

The 20th Alpine Classic to be held on the 20th,21st and 23rd March.

We have passed 150 entries so far, if you wish to play, go to the Myrtleford Golf Club website and follow the Alpine Classic tab.

If you wish only to play at Myrtleford or Bright course, you can register now.

Office Break In

Very disappointing that our office was broken into last Saturday night. The idiots broke down our door but nothing appears to have been stolen. We have valuable computer equipment in the office, but appears they were only looking for cash. As they robbed another business on the same night, they are captured on their video.

The police are now investigating, hopefully they are caught.

Course

We are looking to the gods for some rain, maybe Monday and Tuesday.

The drainage contractors’ job is complete and their cleanup was excellent but we do have concerns with the positioning of the pipe at the commencement of the drain.

Our next big working bee is on Thursday 16th March, 8.30am to lay crushed rock on our paths. The team from the Correctional Centre are coming down as well as Rockie. Please mark the date on your calendar.

We will need a large water container on a trailer to wet the crushed rock. I would appreciate anyone who can help with that.

North East Veterans

8 players travelled up to Bright last Monday and scoring was difficult for most.

Lesley Browne cleaned up the field in B grade Ladies winning with 36 points and a nearest the pin. Karl O’Shaughnessy was the best of the men with 31 points.

Next veterans’ day is at Benalla on the 27th March

Rotary 2 Player Ambrose

This year’s annual event is on Sunday 12th March. 9.30 shotgun start. Always a very popular day, excellent prizes, $50 a team, BBQ lunch, Enter on notice board or online.
