Course

The firewood that was cut up by Tristan and John Costello was sold this week, do you need any?

A big shout out to Trout who emptied the course bins last Sunday, we have had record bar sales, but the waste has to go somewhere, well Done Trout and your grandson.

My thanks Marnie Broz, together we filled the Football Club bins and their own recycle bins to lighten our load.

Upgrade Irrigation System

For the two years I have been President, I have pursued a grant to upgrade our irrigation system, to be watering our greens in daylight hours is inefficient and wasting water and our present system is manual.

Prior to last year’s State Election, I submitted our project to Golf Australia who lodged golf projects to both major parties. In the words of GA, the correct party won and GA had been advised by the Labor Government that in the next budget, the successful projects will be announced. We are cautiously optimistic (GA words) we will be successful.

Committee Meeting

Highlights

  1. After so many months running at a loss each month, last month we had a profit of $35,600 – fantastic, membership, comps, bar and green fees all contributed.
  2. Membership – 72% of our members have renewed their membership, 50 to follow up, 6 have resigned and 3 new members. I thank you all for rejoining and urge you if you haven’t paid, PLEASE DO, to keep this Club going.
  3. New members- Judy Lardner, Warren Rowney – Both former members, great to have you back
  4. The committee has agreed to budget $20,000 to be spent on drainage which will include an extra 100 metres of permanent drainage piping, making it 200m up to the 4th tee. A new open drain will be constructed below the workshop which will run into a new drain to run along the third. The Recreational Reserve will contribute to the open drain on the third
  5. The Club is to encourage players who miss out on a game at Wodonga or Thurgoona, to come and play in our competition. On Wednesday, we had visitors from Thurgoona.
  6. The John Wilson Memorial weekend will consist of a Stableford event on the Saturday 4th February and a 2 player Ambrose on the Sunday 5th. Club Savoy will sponsor this weekend
  7. The Club to purchase a new secondhand cart and to sell an old one later in the season.
  8. The Club will increase prize money from tomorrow, from $20 to $35 for the winner, this could include a business voucher of $20. 9-hole winner will receive $15. Runner up will receive 2 balls.
  9. No smoking – the Club has adopted a policy of NO SMOKING under any roof area, which includes the verandah.

Pennant Teams

Have you contacted Captain David if you are willing to play pennant? I believe last year’s premiers’ team are going back-to-back. Teams have to be submitted by this Sunday, so please contact David if interested, we are a couple short .

Australia Day – Par 3 event

Always a great social day, organized by the Ladies. Meat pies and lamingtons is lunch. Every hole is a par 3, a great social day

Sponsorship

This week the Club has been seeking sponsorship for the Alpine Classic. Our major sponsor Winsec have increased their sponsorship to $1,000.00 and the Buffalo Hotel, Motel on Alpine, Ardens Caravan Park, Myrtleford Caravan Park and Alpine Gate Café are committed to supporting the event, a couple more would be great.

After having an excellent round last Saturday, Jade Galvan of Alpine Dairy has offered to be a prize sponsor for March, well done Jade. This month is Billy and Me and next month Ivone Nutrient. Not only are they supporting us, I urge you all to support their businesses or just say thanks.

Centennial Shirts

Did you miss out early this year in purchasing a centennial shirt.

Following a request for the shirts, orders forms are available at the Club house, cost $45.
