Course

Into our second week of drainage works, a stump grinder was employed last Monday to remove stumps on the third.

The contractors have commenced laying pipes along the third before the corner. Yesterday they cut a poly pipe and an irrigation pipe, not a good day.

I don’t have to tell you how dry it is, in fact there are trees on the course doing it tough. The fairways are hanging in as we only have enough water for the greens. Please wait until Gerard has finished watering in the morning before playing your competition. Let’s pray that it rains soon.

Ladies Comp

Last Tuesday, 17 ladies played in a stroke event.

Ann Hazeldine continues with her good form, (two in a row) with a net 69, runner up Judy Bynon with a net 70. Good to see new member Wendy Caldwell with a nearest the pin.

The 9 hole winner and she aways has a good score, Betty Newton with 19 points, runner up Pat McPherson, well done Pat.

Yesterday, 12 ladies played in a Stableford event.

Winner with an excellent 38 points, Faye McLees, runner up Carolyn Prowse with 36 points.

9 hole winner with an excellent 23 points was Penny Dawkins, runner up Barb Welch.

Yesterday, some of our ladies went to the Wangaratta Bowl and Lizzie Orton did well, runner up in A grade, well done Liz.

Because of the Alpine Classic next week, no golf Thursday, women are welcome to play on the Wednesday, there will be an 18 and 9 hole event

.

Recycling Cans and bottles

Thanks to members who have brought and continue to bring their cans and bottles up to the Clubhouse. Another little revenue winner for the Club. We now have a bag stand outside, near the bins. Please put all the recyclables in the bag and not in the bins.

A huge shout out to Trout Batt and Brad Carroll for packing away the cans and bottles from last Sunday and cleaning out the bins on the course. Today I’m doing a trailer run down to Wang.

Alpine Classic

Alpine Classic next Monday and Thursday. Ladies are catering on both days. We need bar people, raffle sellers and members supporting Robyn and Peter Ternes.

Special thanks to members who have loaned their carts. Barrie and Judy Bynon, John and Barb Welch (a special thanks to both couples as we call upon their carts regularly, in fact today), Andrew and Craig McKerral, Brendan and Robert Wheeler and Paul Cowman

We thank our sponsors and Henry and Rita Hilton.

Pennant

Our Division 4 ladies got off to a good start last Friday. They played at Jubilee and won 3/2. The team consisted of Kerry Newton, Barb Welch, Fay McLees, Heather Street and Judy Bynon. Well done to Heather winning.

Today they are playing at home.

Men start on Sunday, thanks to Rocky Rockliff and Barb Welch for cooking lunch.

Michael McDonald

Very sad news this week that past player Michael McDonald has passed away. Michael was a very popular member and a co-winner of the Chris Rigoni Shield. He also served one year on our committee. Condolences to his family from the Golf Club.
