Also on the program was the annual President Vs Captain challenge. The President didn’t help his team with a low score and the Captain’s team won on the day.

On fire was the in-form player at the moment Andrew Loftus, winning on a countback from Peter Vasey with 38 points.

Ladies Comp

Last Tuesday, 22 ladies played in a stroke event.

Helen Mummery was on fire with an excellent net 71, on a countback from Kerry Chapman, two up and coming champions. Good to see Helen back playing following the passing of Daryl.

The 9 hole winner with an excellent 22 points was Suzette Kelly, runner up ever green Betty Newton with 20 points.

Yesterday 20 ladies played in a stableford event. Jan Harper fired the best score to win with 35 points, runner up Heather Street with 34 points.

9 hole winner was new player Pat McPherson with 16 points, runner up again Betty Newton with 14 points, well done Pat.

Super Six Comp.

The Club invited all entrants last Saturday to enter this new competition. Out of 35 entrants, 33 participated. With 80% of the entrant monies going to the winner, 20% to the Club, $66 = $52 for the winner.

Alan Sands from Jubilee was our first winner, David Clark runner up. Interesting, David was 11th in the Competition but nearly won Super Six.

Course

Beautiful rain last night, the course is certainly dry but helping golfers with plenty of run. The greens are terrific. A huge shout out to everyone who was involved in the working bees, the pruning looks fantastic. 12 months ago Golf Aust. visited our course and it was identified that pruning and removal of the tree on the 6th was number 1 priority. In 12 months except for a few trees, the goal has been achieved. A bigger shout out to Greens and Grounds Chairman Jim Martin who drove this project. The next tree to come down is the dead pine on the 10th/9th. The Club will be employing a contractor for the day and if time available removing more branches.

Another huge compliment to Jim and John Costello for wrapping up the drainage works on the course. Over $130k of works was completed, not costing the Club a cent. The flood mitigation works on the 15th looks superb, again thanks Jim.

The final works is upgrading the drainage on Briggs Lane.

King’s Birthday 2 Player Ambrose

It is on again this year, Men’s/Ladies/Mixed, Monday 10th June, 9.30-10.00am shotgun start. Names on the notice board please.

Australian Golf Magazine

Some months ago, the Club was approached to put an ad in the above magazine as they were doing a story on NE clubs. The Club didn’t go ahead with the ad but they still included a story about our club, I will leave it in the Clubrooms if you are interested in reading it. Our Club is given a huge plug.

Recycling Cans and Bottles.

A huge thanks to Judy and Barrie Bynon for making two trips to Wang. No doubt Trout would have been involved in packing the cans and bottles into bags, thanks Trout and anyone else involved. If you have cans and bottles at home, please donate to the Club, leave in the men’s toilet.

NE VETS

Last Monday, only 3 players represented our Club at Jubilee. No good scores to report.

Next Vets. is at Howlong, 4BBB, Monday 24th.
